Account History
The account history ledger is the first thing you see when you open an account: a one-page story of the relationship, from the day the account became a customer through its renewals, expansions, and risks, up to the next renewal and the meetings already on the calendar. Use it to get up to speed on an account before a call, a renewal review, or an escalation, without piecing the story together from several tabs.
Where to find it
Open any account from Accounts and go to Adoption → Overview. (Your workspace may label the Adoption tab differently.) The ledger replaced the former History tab and the older Overview widgets, so everything that used to live in History is now on Overview. Parent and child accounts also get this Overview sub-tab.
What the ledger shows
The page reads top to bottom:
- Summary: one or two sentences in plain language, for example when the account became a customer, how many times it has renewed, expanded, or contracted, how many open needle movers it has, and when it renews next. Accounts with too little history for a summary don't show one.
- Key facts: a row of headline numbers (see below).
- Account timeline: a chart of the account's whole life, with recent months shown in more detail.
- Filter bar and event list: every milestone and risk, newest first, with an Upcoming section at the top.
If the account has no recorded milestones yet, the ledger shows No major moments yet.
Key facts
| Fact | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Customer since | Month and year the account became a customer. |
| Current ARR | The account's current ARR. For a parent account with children, this is the children's rolled-up total. Hidden when no ARR is recorded. |
| Last renewal | The percentage change of the most recent renewal against the one before it, and the month it happened. Green for growth, pink for a decrease. Hidden until the account has renewed at least twice. |
| Next renewal | The upcoming renewal date and how many days away it is. Replaced by Churned (with the churn month) when the account has churned. Hidden when no future renewal date is set. |
| Open risks | Number of open needle movers on the account. Shown in pink when above zero. |
Facts that have no value are left out rather than shown as blank or zero, except Open risks, which always appears.
The account timeline chart
The chart uses an uneven time scale so an account's full history fits on one line while recent activity stays readable. Reading left to right:
- Earlier years, one column per year. A run of years with no recorded activity collapses into a single column labeled with the range (hover shows No recorded history for those years).
- Quarters leading into the last twelve months.
- The last twelve months, one column per month, followed by a Today marker.
- The next six months, one column per month, and, if the renewal is further out, a column for the renewal month (with a gap column in between).
Bars show the renewed amount in each period, and the column where the next renewal is due is outlined. Hover over a column to see its period, the amount renewed, and a list of the risks and meetings that fall in it. The chart scrolls sideways when it doesn't fit.
For new customers whose history all falls within the last twelve months, the chart skips the yearly and quarterly columns. For churned accounts, the chart ends at today.
| Legend mark | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Renewed (green bar) | Amount renewed or expanded in that period. |
| Risk milestone (pink diamond) | A contraction or churn, or an open needle mover with high negative impact. |
| Open risk (pink dot) | An open needle mover. |
| Resolved (hollow gray circle) | A needle mover that has been closed. Only appears when Show resolved is on. |
| Scheduled (hollow circle) | An upcoming meeting. |
Filtering the event list
Use the filter bar above the list to narrow it. Each option shows how many events it would include.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| All | Every past event. |
| Milestones | Account milestones: becoming a customer, renewals, and expansions. |
| Risks & issues | Needle movers, plus contractions and churn. |
| Show resolved | Includes closed needle movers in the list, the counts, and the chart. Off by default, so the ledger focuses on open risks. |
Your filter and Show resolved choice are kept in the page URL, so a shared link opens the ledger with the same view.
The event list
Upcoming comes first. It lists the next renewal (Renewal due, with the days remaining and the number of open risks) and meetings scheduled with the account in the next 90 days from connected calendars, each with how many days away it is. The furthest-out item is at the top, so the list reads as one continuous line from the future down to Today. Churned accounts don't show an Upcoming section.
Below the Today rule, past events are grouped by year, newest first. Each row shows:
- The date and a marker matching the chart's legend.
- The event title. Needle movers also show their label as a tag.
- For renewals, expansions, contractions, and churn, the account's ARR after the event, shown in green for renewals and expansions and in pink for contractions and churn. This is the remaining ARR, not the change.
- For needle movers, an Open risk or Resolved badge.
When there's a long gap between two events, a note such as 6 months earlier or 2 years earlier separates them. If there's a stretch of years with no recorded history after the account became a customer, a single band at the bottom of the list marks it.
Where the data comes from
The ledger is built from data FunnelStory already has for the account; there's nothing to configure on the page itself.
- Customer since, Next renewal, churn status, and Current ARR come from your Account model.
- Renewals, expansions, contractions, and churn come from the account's recorded outcomes and amounts.
- Risks are the account's own needle movers. A parent account's ledger doesn't include its children's needle movers.
- Scheduled meetings come from calendars your team has connected to FunnelStory.
